Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteerism is open to current Butler students, Butler employees, neighbors in the community, or anyone interested in plant science and its history, conservation, and biodiversity, who has the time and willingness to help further our mission.
Volunteers assist the curatorial staff in processing incoming specimens, mounting specimens, typing labels, data entry, taking photographs, filing specimens, preparing class materials, plant identifications, plant inventories, etc.
Volunteer positions are developed on a case-by-case basis to create meaningful projects that capitalize on a person’s interests. Volunteers contribute greatly to the work of the herbarium, helping to prepare and preserve our plant collection. There are many opportunities for citizen scientists to become involved with our mission.

If you would like to support the herbarium through volunteerism, please contact Marcia Moore (mmoore@butler.edu or (317) 940-8302).
