Member of the Liliaceae (Lily) family. Grows in moist woods, 6 - 16 inches, April - May. Similar to Toadshade (Trillium sessile) but leaves with petioles (narrow stalks) and sepals recurved or drooping. The three leaves have short petioles and are often strongly mottled with green or brown.
