Panax quinquefolius
American ginseng
Panax quinquefolius (American ginseng), of the Araliaceae family, is a perennial herb with 5 leaves, 5 petals that are greenish white, and small red flowers in a solitary terminal umbel. Found in woods in many Indiana counties, May - July.
