Member of the Geranium (Geraniaceae) family. Found in moist woods, grows 1 to 3 feet, April - July, blooms April-June. Flowers are 5-petaled, purple to rose, loosely clustered above paired leaves. Leaves are deeply lobed and toothed. Fruits beaklike. Also called "cranesbill" because of the the bill-like capsule where the seeds are stored.
