Trumpetweed, sometimes called hollow Joe-pye weed, is a member of the Asteraceae family. The USDA Plants Database now names this plant Eupatoriadelphus fistulosus.  It is a perennial herb, with stem strongly glaucous and evenly purple throughout, hollow with a large central cavity.  Flowers are pink or pinkish-purple.  It is found in wet areas of roadsides and along margins of woods, July - September.
