Member of the Buttercup (Ranunculaceae) family. Five petal-like sepals form flowers one-half to three-fourths inch wide. The deeply lobed leaflets are in threes. Growing 4 - 10 inches tall, False rue anemone forms large colonies of leafy plants. Its lush growth habit and the deeply lobed leaves differentiate it from the more delicate true anemone.

Previously named Isopyrum biternatum
